Our Vision

Our emphases at YWAM Tasmania is on intimacy with God and building community. These objectives are the basis of our vision as missionaries to the nations and as a ministry and training centre.

To fully capture this vision, we have defined 7 elements that come together to create one whole picture:

  • Training
  • Nations
  • Sustainability
  • Love Tasmania
  • Children & Youth
  • Family
  • Prayer & Worship

training

We have a passion for training and equipping people to use their unique gifting and talents to serve the Lord. Our staff are committed to serving, loving, encouraging and challenging each student as they journey with us. We love seeing how God transforms both the lives of our students and the lives of those they minister to.

There are a variety of training courses available year-round. We welcome people of all ages, cultures, ethnicity and denominations to join us for any of our training programs. We’d love to have you join us!

nations

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 16:19-20 (NIV)

We delight in Jesus’s command to reach the nations! Our heart for the nations is etched into everything that we do – we are from all nations, for all nations, to all nations.

We have growing connections throughout Australia, as well as in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and many more nations! From outreach to training and intercession, we are committed to reaching our brothers and sisters across the globe.

Sustainability

One of our sustainable community projects is our aquaponics system, which is currently under development. Growing our own food will not only feed us, but it could also enable us to help feed the poor and needy in our community. Eventually, we would like to incorporate this into our training programs (like DTS, for example) so that our missions teams can learn these skills and teach them to developing communities in poor nations.

Other projects consist of gardening, developing landscape solutions, getting rid of thistles, and improving our facilities and community spaces. We’ve also implemented additional recycling systems such as REDcycling (the recycling of soft plastics) and using our shredded paper and cardboard to make bricks to burn in our fireplaces.

If this is something that interests you, please contact us – there are many ways to get involved!

Love Tasmania

Our desire is to see teams from all over Australia and the nations to come to Tasmania and join us in spreading the love of God to every person in every town. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to encounter God’s love, and we want to see all of Tasmania encounter the goodness of God.

There are many needs and a lot of rejection on this small island. We want people to know that God has chosen them, He is calling them to a place of belonging in His family and they are no longer rejected.

We started this journey in April 2012, and as of January 2019 we have ministered in every single town across Tasmania! But we aren’t stopping there – we believe that God has so much more in store for Tasmania. Will you join us?

Children & Youth

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)

God’s desire is for all young people to discover their destiny and fulfill their potential in Him – to have a hope and a future. His heart’s desire is to release young people of all nations to go to the ends of the earth to make a difference and to help complete the Great Commission.

We are committed to leading children, teenagers and families into a proven knowledge of God. When we work together, we can make Him known to all peoples!

Family

We love families!

Our staff is made up of 5 families, and together with our single staff we think of our community as one big family. We value both the individual family unit, and the family as a community. That’s why it is important to us that all of our staff, students and volunteers feel at home here, and we hope that you will too!

Worship & Intercession

All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” – Psalm 86:9 (NIV)

The Bible tells us that there is power when we pray and worship together, and that a prayer made in faith can move mountains. This is why we gather as a community every week to worship and pray together.

Our desire is that we would worship God with our lives and glorify Him in everything that we do. Through doing this, we believe we will continue to see and experience breakthrough in our lives and in our community.
