The Diploma in Christian Missions Leadership – 52158 (CML)

is a course for those who are called to be a leader in a mission’s community. It is for YWAM Southlands staff so they will be able to train and equip the next generation of YWAMers and to be able to successfully lead small teams of people in contexts, such as DTS small groups, outreach teams, staff or department groups, mobile teams, cell groups in local churches, youth groups etc.

The CML has been developed around the principle of apprenticeship. We find we learn best about leadership when working along side someone who is currently a leader. When we regularly interact with leaders we can see them model leadership, and best learn from them. It is our goal to not only train young leaders but set them up to be able to train others who come after them. This is the principle clearly stated in 2 Timothy 2:2.

As part of the CML there will as well be a weekly leadership lecture from local, national and international leaders in YWAM, as well as other leaders in the body of Christ. These lectures will include topics like Biblical Principles of Leadership, Mentoring and Discipleship, Growing in Character, Using our Gifts in Leadership, Leading in Prayer, Worship and Intercession, and many other topics.

Over the two years of the course, trainees will have the opportunity to receive mentoring from senior leaders in our YWAM community as well as to lead out in Worship and Intercession. They will also be asked staff at least one DTS and Plan, Lead and Review a two-week mobile trip all with the purpose of putting into practice the principles of leadership we are learning.

As we are all different people, and we all come with different levels of maturity and experience, we try to tailor input to meet the needs of each individual trainee.
